Extroverts vs Introverts

There are many different people that you have to deal and interact with everyday at the workplace. It is important that you know how to deal with these people so that they can feel comfortable and stay productive at the workplace. Introverts and extroverts are the most difficult people to deal with. They need some form of special treatment so that they can be able to peacefully coexist with other workmates at the workplace. The first thing that you need to do so that you can be able to treat both introverts and extroverts better is to learn all that you can about them and their behaviors.

Extroverts

These are those people who are outgoing. They love interacting with others and they can sometimes seem too forward to some individuals. At the workplace, these are the people who are extremely social with others. It is their way of recharging their energy. Extroverts do not like spending time alone. In order for you to get along with extroverts at the workplace so that things can run smoothly you need to respect the independence that they build for themselves. Extroverts have a very strong sense of independence that needs to be respected by those around them if they are to get along well.

Since extroverts love to stand out making them feel give in the presence of other workmates is a good idea. An extrovert who is complemented in the presence of others won’t have a problem getting along with others at the workplace. Extroverts are always seeking acceptance and approval. You need to show them that you accept them and that you have no problem with how they are. You should try and be there for them when they need to talk and also show them that you care what they have to say. Extroverts need affection and by giving them this, you will be making them comfortable and thus productive in their work at the office.

Introverts

These are those people who love to keep to themselves. Introverts love to be alone. They do not like interacting with others so much. They recharge their energy by staying alone and keeping to themselves. Most individuals refer to introverts as anti-socials. Introverts feel that their energy is being drawn away from them when they are around other people. The first thing that you need to do when dealing with introverts is to respect their needs for space. Since they love to be alone, you need to respect this and give them the time that they need.

Introverts need to be respected by those around them. This means that you should never embarrass them in public because this will greatly affect them. You need to ensure that you reprimand them in private if there is need. An introvert’s self esteem is greatly affected by how they are treated. When you need answers from an introvert, it is very important that you give him time to think things over before demanding for the answers. You also need to give them time to adjust to new places before you can start giving them duties. Do not interrupt an introvert when he is talking. You should also not push introverts to make new friends because this is not good for them and will reduce their performance at the workplace.
