50 Years of Fashion and Trends That Are Making A Huge Comeback

This month, the Kapa Oil Family is celebrating 50 wonderful years in the Manufacturing Sector.  To see how far we have come, we want to look back at the styles that defined a generation and that are making their comebacks in 2019.

Nostalgia is the name of this game. Humans tend to want to relive significant moments and fashion ranks highly in this department.

Let’s look back at fashion statements that you can enjoy now through every decade that KAPA has been around.

The 60s

This decade stated out conservative but eventually turned into one of the most expressive style periods in modern history. Termed as “hippie” due to the hippie movement that spilled over into the 70s, this style is now charmingly known as Boho chic. It’s fun, easy breezy and screams effortless style. 

The 70s 

Disco was killing it in the 70s and bell bottoms ruled the day. This style was embraced by both men and women. Most of our parents have photos of themselves looking fresh in bell bottoms and chunky heels, straight out of a disco set. Nowadays, the style can be achieved by pairing it with a cute top and  accessories.

The 80s

No one knows what really happened in the 80s, but we can all agree that it was a 10-year long disaster when it came to fashion. The bold colours, experimentation and all-round chaos. Somehow, some style statements stood the test of time. Try the edgy but not too over the top style, it’s a definite head-turner.

The 90s 

If you lived in the 90s then you remember this like it was yesterday. From unflattering, frumpy mom jeans to chokers and “tumbo cuts” that were so scandalous you would only save them for the club. Nowadays, these once frowned upon style pieces are being rocked in broad daylight and we love it. 

The 2000s

We had made it into the new millennium, and we needed to scream about it. Hence the explosion of self-expression that was the early 2000s. Styles like the crop top, low riding jeans and denim held on strong and buggy athletic wear looked oh so cool. In 2019, athleisure is huge and takes some form of the loved early 2000s trend while still making it pop today.
