Home-Made Bhajias for October Celebrations

October is our birthday month; we mark 50 years of bringing you quality products at home. Thank you for choosing us over and over again, cheers to many more years of great partnership.  Also, this is the month where we get to enjoy holidays like Moi Day, Mashujaa  Day and Diwali. We take this opportunity to spend time with friends and loved ones, and this time why not surprise them with bhajias for lunch? This simple recipe is sure to leave everyone wanting more, not to mention that it’s a great snack for the kids.

INGREDIENTS

  • 300g gram flour
  • 2 spoonfuls of sugar
  • 2 spoonfuls of baking flour
  • 1 spoonful of cardamom
  • 200g potatoes chopped to ring shape
  • 1 large onion chopped
  • Salt to taste
  • Rina Vegetable Oil for frying

METHOD

  • Peel, wash & cut potatoes into sizeable round slices
  • Add gram flour, sugar, salt, cardamom and baking flour in a large bowl. Mix well and add ingredients in bits until everything is well blended.
  • Add water in bits as you vigorously mix to a thick smooth paste.
  • Divide the thick paste into halves using wide bowls. Mix one half with onions and the other half with potatoes.
  • Mix the contents of the two bowls and ensure the potatoes are well coated evenly. Set aside.
  • Place a skillet with Rina Vegetable oil over medium heat and let it get hot.
  • Add bits of the coated potatoes into the pan and fry until all sides brown. Remove from heat and place on grease paper.
  • Repeat the process until all the potatoes are finished.
  • Serve with ukwaju or kachumbari.
