8 Great Ways to Start Your Day

How you begin your day plays the big role on how the rest of the day will turn out to be. It is important that we begin our day so that we are happy about our accomplishments when the day is over. Sometimes it takes simple ways to make your day great. Here are eight tips you could use to start your day. Make it a habit and see yourself enjoying the days to come.

  1. Don’t hit snooze.
    When you snooze your alarm, you will be likely to go back to sleep and this could mess up your day. If you are likely to snooze it, place your alarm somewhere that’s hard to reach, somewhere that will force you to get up out of bed in order to turn it off. Once you are up and moving, you are unlikely to get back to bed.
  2. Hydrate
    Drink a glass of warm water when you wake up. Water fires up your metabolism, hydrates you and helps your body flush out toxins. It also gives your brain fuel to kick start the new day.
  3. Don’t reach for your phone
    Resist the urge to get your phone in the morning. If your alarm is on the phone, switch it off and start getting ready for the day. Reaching for your phone may prompt you into logging on social media and this will derail your mind and cause you to end up wasting time.
  4. Focus on the day
    Come up with your to do list and have your expected goals in the morning. Planning in the morning will help you know what to prioritize and what to begin working on. You will also be accountable to the list since you have somewhere to refer to. 
  5. Stretch
    Stretching is a great way to stay in shape, become more flexible and relieve sore muscles. It also helps relieve stress, anxiety, improve digestion and improve your overall health. Have fun while doing this such that you look forward to it every morning. 
  6. Make your bed
    According to Naval Admiral William McRaven, “If you make your bed every morning you will have accomplished the first task of the day. It will give you a small sense of pride and it will encourage you to do another task and another and another. By the end of the day, that one task completed will have turned into many tasks completed. Making your bed will also reinforce the fact that the little things in life matter.” 
  7. Think of three things you are grateful for.
    Starting your day by thinking of the positive things in your life will equip you with a positive attitude all day long. This could also be a moment to meditate
  8. Listen to some good jams.
    Have some good music play as you prepare yourself for the day. This will raise your spirits and set your mood ready for the day!
