TOUGH TIMES DON’T LAST, BUT TOUGH PEOPLE DO

This is a quote taken from one of Robert H. Schuller’s books. Everybody is going through a lot, be it grief, divorce, unemployment, sickness, and many other challenges. Right now, food prices have gone through the roof, there’s school fees, rent and not to mention demanding work situations while some homes have become warzones akin to the Russia Ukraine conflict. We live in a generation that is grappling with mental health challenges, anxieties, social media expectations the list could go on and on.

Whenever tough times beat us to the ground, we can stay down or pick ourselves up and move on. This month, we’ve dedicated our blog to navigating tough times. In life, you’re either getting out of a tough situation or getting into one. Challenges are part of life, and truth be told, we’re never

prepared until we find ourselves face to face with them. These sudden events shake us to our core, natural progressions of life that leave us searching for new grounding; situations that leave us fiercely flapping our wings in flight, so we don’t crash.

So how can we cope? According to Harriet Cabello, a blogger, there are 4Fs that we can use to get through tough times.

  1. FEEL

Allow yourself to feel, the pain, anger, resentment etc. Allowing those feelings is a crucial part of moving through them. We need to acknowledge them as part of our humanness.  If we push the grief or anger down, it has a way of popping up again. We must allow the feelings to move like clouds, changing shape like clouds. When we know our feelings, we can manage them better.

  1. FUEL

What drives you? What keeps you going? What keeps you alive? What makes you tick? We need to connect with our fuel so that we can move forward. And what keeps your tank full so that you can keep going. We also need to acknowledge the things or habits that drain our tanks. Is it a toxic friendship or relationship? Is it a place that rekindles bad memories? What’s draining you?

To navigate through tough times, think of those things that lift you. Hanging out with friends, reading a book, going out for a run, swimming, walking the dog. Try to counter your pain with something interesting that you like doing. Think of movements and actions that energize us.

  1. FUN

Even during tough times, allow yourself some minutes of lightheartedness. Incorporate even small bits of positivity even during difficult times. Do you have a hobby? Painting, writing – to channel your pain, watching your favourite program, and going bowling. These are some of the activities you can undertake to help you navigate tough times.

To some people, cleaning your home is one of the ways you can channel excess pressure. Arrange your home and make it the sanctuary that you want it to be. Speaking of sanctuaries, the toilet is one place where we spend a lot of our time and the toughest to clean. Cleaning with Atilla Toilet cleaner will ensure that it’s spick and span. It is tough on toilet stains.

  1. FAITH

Are you part of a spiritual community? Linking up with friends at a Bible Study, Mosque, Temple, or other community will help you navigate tough times.

Don’t be too hard on yourself cut yourself some slack.
